Okay, I can't these take to many of these games. I don't live in the New York Metro Area. I don't have the NFL ticket, so I stream online. I don't have a very good WIFI connection and it was a job in itself to be able to watch the game. To me it wasn't worth the effort.
You sit back and watch your favorite team, knowing in theory, they should dominate the game. You listen to interviews, look at stats, you look at the history of your opponent and just know it's gonna be a good day. The Giants won 28-20, however, they did not play up to par.
The defense for most of the game did not shine as they have in the past 2 games. They had some moments, but as a whole, did not play as they should have. I think the Lions presented more of a problem than they anticipated and the adjustments just didn't fair well.
The offense still isn't clicking. Though Brandon Jacobs had two TD's and Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 133 yards, the offense overall lacked explosiveness. I think the play calling in the 2nd half was poor. I expect more dominance from the big play-potential offense.
Yes, championships are won by the defense but, you have to be able to score. They can't continue being stopped at the goal line until 3rd down. Forget that! It's gonna give me a heart attack. Punch it in the first time and let's play ball.
There were too many opportunities in the game for the Giants to run away with it and they didn't do that. They let the Lions hang around, and give us older fans a mild heart angina. One of the good points would be turnovers. They seem to have been left in Houston. If memory serves, we had 2 penalties, but I'll have to double check that.
I can hear it now. I know the message boards are going to be lit up over Matt Dodge. I'm kinda growing impatient with him. I have defended him since the beginning of the season. But, now it's getting old. One more game Matt. If it doesn't improve, then I'll be saying "get Matt out of Dodge".
All in all it was a win for us but, again, an ugly one for me. I didn't care for the way we played. I want to see better play. I want dominance in all three phases of the game. For a complete box score, please click here. For highlights, please click here.
